"Gallagher-Franey Nuptials Solemnized." April 5, 1915.

Dr. and Ella Gallagher's wedding took place in Annunciation Church with Father
Lemuel B. Norton performing the ceremony. The Black Diamond Orchestra with church
organist Kathryn Maley rendered 20 minute musical program including Evening Star,
A Perfect Day, and Swedish Wedding March. Bridal chorus from Lohengrin
("Here Comes the Bride") began the ceremony at 3pm.

The bride wore opal satin embroidered with pearls empire fashion with the entire bodice
of bridal net trimmed in real Princess lace and skirt artistically draped in tiers of
bridal net and embroidered in pearls. Her train hung from the shoulders decorated with
lilies of the valley. A net veil crowned with Juliet cap of pearls and lilies of the
valley and she carried a shower bouquet of lilies of the valley.

The maid of honor was Irene Franey and "vied with the bride in attractiveness with a
handsome creation of white satin draped in green messaline with silver lace tunic
embroidered in opalescent beads." Irene wore a Nile green chiffon picture hat and
carried a shower bouquet of mignonette and orchids.

The groom's best man was Frank B. Reilly. He and Dr. Gallagher both wore evening dress
The ushers were Michael J. O'Hara, Dan Malone, Joseph Monaghan, and James Franey also
attired in evening dress who "did the honors of the occasion in a courtly manner."

Following the ceremony the bridal party "retired to the Franey mansion at Jardin and
Coal St. and amid a veritable bower of palms and lilies arranged in grotto shape the
newlywedded couple received the congratulations which relatives and friends showered
upon them after which the bridal party and guests marched through the corridor which
was tastefully decorated with Easter lilies, palms, tulips, and lilacs, arranged by
W. G. Payne, florist, through the drawing room to the dining room where the color scheme
of white and green prevailed and partook of a sumptuous dinner by Caterer Graham."

During the dinner and reception the orchestra rendered selections. Among those who
constituted the wedding party worthy of mention are mothers of the bride and groom,
Mrs. Franey wearing white crepe dress with D'Alencon (lace)..combination of black
chiffon and silk. Following the dinner they leave on the 6:44 train from Mahanoy City
to New York, from which place they will go to the Bermuda islands where the honeymoon
will be spent. They will be at home two weeks hence in a handsomely furnished home
at 15 S. Jardin St. The bride was attired for traveling in a suit 'Te te de negre' with a hat
of the same shade trimmed in old blue.

Miss Franey is a young woman of pleasing personality and popular in society circles,
educated in Shenandoah schools, and later took a course of study at Georgetown
University, D.C. and afterwards graduated from the Bloomsburg State Normal School.

Dr. Gallagher is one of the prominent and successful young physicians of the town,
graduate of Medico Chic of Philly and a special course in medicine at Harvard, afterward
chief resident surgeon at St. Agnes Hospital, he later opened an office in town and enjoys
an extensive practice.

Among out of town guests were P.J. Fleming of Mahanoy City,
Rev. Joseph A. Hayes, Miss Anna Monaghan, Mrs. Ellen McHale, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Graham,
the Rev. Joseph M. O'Hara of Philadelphia, the Rev. Thomas Atteni of Mahanoy City,
Father Gildea and Senator O'Merra, Drs. Carlin and Ryan of Torringten, Connecticut,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wirt of Bloomsburg, Mrs. George Higgins and family of Shamokin,
Mrs. William Higgins and family of Mt. Carmel, and Mrs. William Rettig of Pottsville.

Following the departure of the bride and groom this evening, a dance and reception will
be held at the Franey home. The cabs for the occasion were furnished by McGlaughlin Bros.
Livery.
